Jessica Rosberger is set to embark upon her graduate studies a year earlier than the rest of her peers in the Class of 2024 by virtue of her acceptance into the 3+3 Pathways Program offered through the Cornell Law School.
The 3+3 Pathways Program provides an opportunity for undergraduates from Cornell University, Hobart William Smith Colleges, and St. Lawrence University to combine their senior year of college with their first year of Cornell Law School, allowing Rosberger to attain her B.A. and J.D. in six years.
Rosberger will graduate from the University as an American Studies major and Inequality Studies and Law & Society double minor, which she believes has provided her with historical and sociological perspectives on her future law career.
“I think American Studies has taught me how to think a certain way that allows me to look at things in many different perspectives and I think the American Studies Program has been really helpful in determining what I want to do with my career and why I want to join this [3+3 Pathways] program,” Rosenberg says.
“It taught me a lot about the inequalities in the United States and how there’s a lot of ways it can be ameliorated in the legal system,” she iterates.
“[I’ll miss] the breadth and depth of studies in the American Studies Program. I was really able to get a lot of different knowledge in many different areas and it just broadened my perspective on the world and how I see things.”
Upon matriculation into Cornell Law School, Rosenberg plans on utilizing various opportunities to further her academic and professional work.
“Cornell Law has a lot of externships and clinics that are specifically focused on public interest law and helping people who are misfortunate and don’t have the access to lawyers, so I think that’s a really interesting aspect to Cornell Law that I hope to be able to pursue,” she says.
“I hope to be able to think in a new way. I think law school has a particular way of teaching and I hope to gain skills that are able to be applicable in the real world and to make change.”
During her last few weeks of undergraduate studies, Rosberger hopes to enjoy the warm weather and classes before she starts summer classes to earn more credits for Law School.
