Why did you choose Cornell?

I chose Cornell because when I was on my football recruiting visit, the coaches and players were extremely welcoming. Ithaca also reminded me a lot of my hometown, which made the transition feel comfortable. On top of that, the academics are outstanding, and I wanted the opportunity to step outside of West Virginia, experience something new, and meet people from different backgrounds.
What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite classes were Black Theology taught by Professor Xavier Pickett and The U.S Education System taught by Professor John Sipple. They were engaging, made learning enjoyable and introduced me to ideas and perspectives that I had never encountered before, which made them even more impactful.
What is your main extracurricular activity and why is it important to you?
Being a member of the Cornell Football team meant everything to me. I’ve dedicated my time and effort to the sport since I was 6 years old. Being able to achieve my lifelong dream of playing Division I football at an Ivy League institution is something I truly see as a blessing.

What are the most valuable skills you gained from your Arts & Sciences education?
One of the most valuable aspects of my Arts & Sciences education was the ability to explore a wide range of subjects. I went from taking Spanish classes to learning about bacteria in our dorm environment. Even when I wasn’t initially interested, I learned to appreciate different fields and stay open to new ideas.

Where do you dream to be in 10 years?
In 10 years, after building a successful NFL career, I see myself creating an agency with my brother focused on giving back to our community in Martinsburg, W.V. The goal is to develop a space that combines an athletic and academic complex, providing young people with the same opportunities and resources more common in larger cities.
Every year, our faculty nominate graduating Arts & Sciences students to be featured as part of our Extraordinary Journeys series. Read more about the Class of 2026.
